Don’t get me wrong, the holiday season is great.
You get to see your Family, take some time off and for some exchange gifts with your loved ones.
BUT, it’s also a lot of stress making sure you find the perfect gift for everyone.
As you know, I like to optimize a lot of things, and Christmas presents are not an exception! Here are my tips on how to growth hack your Christmas presents this year in 3 simple steps.
1. Come up with Christmas gift ideas
If you already have gift ideas for everyone, you’re fine. But as far as I’m concerned, it’s always a struggle to find the perfect gift for everyone!
Here’s how I do it: I ask my other family members or friends if they have gift ideas (that they’re not going to gift) for my targets. I simply consider my family as a network and use it as such.
For instance, say you want to buy gifts for person A & B: ask recommendations from person A to gift person B and do the opposite as well.
You can also ask your gift targets if they have created an Amazon wishlist.
Great, now you should have Christmas gift ideas for everyone!
2. Batch your Christmas gifts research and shopping
With step 1, you will often have gotten broad ideas for each person. It’s time to pinpoint your gift ideas so that you can shop each one without a doubt.
If each time you get gift ideas for someone you spend some time researching it online you’re going to lose a lot of time.
For this step, I like to use Amazon.ca or Amazon.com’s gift guides. Not only do they have great gift guides and gift selection, but you can also directly add items to your shopping cart and save time for the last step.
OK, now you should know exactly what to buy for each of your family members (even down to the colour of the gift)!
3. Purchase your Christmas gifts online and have them delivered where you’ll spend Christmas
Some of you are going to say « Duh Ambroise » but I had to mention this.
This is such a time saver!
And the best is that you can have your gifts delivered wherever you’re spending Christmas. Heck, you can even have the pre-wrapped with some ecommerce websites (like Amazon)!
This is huge for as I always travel to spend Christmas with my Family in Europe. Less hassle and I get to travel light!
Sit, relax and enjoy the power of the inter-webs!
Ps: My ultimate gift recommendation is to actually do those three steps at the same time and place, undisturbed. Go to a café and spend 1,2 or 3 hours going through every step!
